So it has been a while since I have posted but that is mainly because I want to be real with you all, and I don't want to post pointless things daily, so I hope that you take the time to read my posts when they do come around. With that said the other day I was reading my devotional which is basically a women's devotional and it takes us through portions of the bible in about a month but the devotional part was discussing exaggeration, and how in a sense we are telling lies. My response was "Wow, they're right!", now personally I do my best to tell it how it is and try not to over-exaggerate but there are times when I do. For example last night my husband and I were going to play some soccer with a few of our friends but when we left it was snowing pretty profusely but he ended up parking behind the building we were playing at so we had to trek through the snow to get to the building and I was frustrated that I had to walk through the snow. Once we got inside the building, I told everyone that we parked 5 miles away when really it was about 20 feet. I found myself exaggerating because I was frustrated which isn't right and I can't even imagine how that made my husband feel. Now it is very possible that some of you don't exaggerate when your frustrated but in most cases there is an ulterior motive, something that is hidden which is causing you to exaggerate (tell a lie). I was hiding from my husband that I was frustrated, which isn't good for a marriage. So whatever your motive is for exaggerating don't let it force you into telling a lie especially if you're doing it to be funny or to boost your popularity because no matter what it is the truth is just so much cooler, right? Heck yeah! So to finish this post I will be featuring a quote from the one person who never once sinned, Jesus,
33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.[a]Well that's it for now folks, if you have anything to add or comments please leave them but if you really want to talk maybe not about this subject but if you're really not sure how to ask Jesus into your heart or even if you aren't sure if you should please email me at Chelsea.Carman@yahoo.com I would love to help you make that decision.
Nice post, Chelsea. Very insightful.
